Iona Project Management
I have worked periodically with Streetbuild in their capacity as Principal Contractor over the last fifteen years on a range of construction projects in my capacity as client-side Project Manager.
One such recently completed project was Stage 2 of the Ravenswood School for Girls Science and Technology Centre. After successfully completing Stage 1 of the project incorporating two new Science Labs and other related upgrade works, the Client tested the Stage 1 facilities prior to completing the design for the remainder of the project.
Stage two comprised an additional six specialist laboratory and learning spaces, Staff accommodation and collaboration facilities for approximately sixty-five full time teachers across seven faculties, a key pedestrian link “cut” through an existing building and landscaped courtyards creating vital external extensions to the varied internal formal learning areas. All of the works were completed within a fully operational school environment with no tangible interruptions to operations and nil lost time injuries. The project was completed on time and within budget.
The new Science and Technology Centre at Ravenswood delivers on one of the school’s key objectives to provide 21st Century teaching and learning excellence across the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.), curriculum and has been well received by the Head of Science and all faculty staff. This state-of-the-art facility not only looks exceptional, but more importantly is facilitating the learning and growth of tomorrow’s leading minds.
Planning, organising and implementing any new construction project is always an exciting, and challenging task. Every member of the Streetbuild team from inception to completion were focused, professional, reliable, cooperative, and determined to deliver an outstanding educational facility. An E.C.I. (Early Contractor Involvement) approach to value engineering reduced project costs substantially prior to construction and the attention to detail and finish were superior.
On-site and Off-site resources worked harmoniously and communications at all levels were conducted collaboratively and cooperatively throughout the project. Coordination of design details, audio visual and technology installations and automation elements were all competently handled at site level.
The total delivery experience with Streetbuild throughout this complex project led to the Client’s confidence and satisfaction in a job well done. We look forward to the prospect of working with Streetbuild on future projects.
